Day #3149

Day #3149Title: Plough Patterns
Location: St. Lawrence Bay, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GH3 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: The Dengie peninsula was today’s location for a trip out. I met up with some geocaching friends in Bradwell Waterside and then spent a few hours driving around for “cache and dash” finds in the area. The fields have been harvested now, leaving stubble patterns to admire instead of crops.

Day #3148Title: Take The Bend
Location: Great Baddow, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GH3 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I met up with old friends Rob & Sue today, for a walk. When I visited them a few weeks ago I got talking about geocaching and they sounded intrigued – and have now started looking for tupperware too! They wanted to find a couple of my caches around Great Baddow, so we took a stroll in the sunshine to pick them up. This was the view near one location. We also enjoyed a rather god lunch in The Woolpack in town, to round things off.

Day #3142Title: Windy On The Wirral
Location: West Kirby, Merseyside
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GH3 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: It was a blustery day as I worked my way from Oswestry to Chorley finding some specific geocaches along the way. This was close to the site of a webcam cache, one of the rarest types now available in the UK. So I’m always keen to visit them when I’m in the area. I nearly got blown away standing here having my picture taken by the webcam!

Day #3138Title: Riverside Walk
Location: Llangollen, Denbighshire
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GH3 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: Today I met up with Essex caching friend Gilly in Llangollen. We’re in the area for the UK Welsh Mega 2016 geocaching event next Saturday, but there are plenty of things going on in the meantime. We had a lovely walk along the Llangollen Canal, finishing up along the River Dee. These rocks made an attractive foreground for the landscape beyond.

Day #3136Title: Agricultural Cathedral
Location: Great Coxwell, Oxfordshire
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GH3 / Panasonic 7-14mm f/4 Lumix G Vario
Notes: My holiday carried on today, this time driving through Oxfordshire to Bristol for an overnight trip before hitting Wales tomorrow. This is the interior of the Medieval Great Coxwell Barn, made from stone but propped up on a timber frame. It’s a National Trust property and fascinating to visit. I only stopped in briefly, but had my picnic lunch nearby. The barn’s construction has been dated to 1292 or shortly after, at the time King Edward I was on the thrown – an amazing place which is still standing over 700 years later.

Day #3104Title: Glorious Goodwood
Location: Goodwood, Sussex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GH3 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I ventured down to Sussex today to stay with friends for a few nights. On the way I stopped off at Goodwood to find a geocache. This is the entrance to the aerodrome, a very narrow tunnel under the runway. Breathe in!

Day #3101Title: Motorway Enlightenment
Location: Potters Crouch, Hertfordshire
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GH3 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: It was another nice day today and I escaped work at a reasonable time, so was able to do some more exploring around Hertfordshire. I visited Potters Crouch for a circuit of caches which straddled the A1(M) – this was close to the first hide. I loved the way the sunlight was flooding through the barriers above, illuminating the darkness under the road.
