Day #3199

Day #3199Title: Watched By Bovines
Location: Radlett, Hertfordshire
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX7 / Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 Lumix G II ASPH
Notes: I’m not keen on cows and tend to avoid them at all costs. When I suspect I will encounter bovines on footpaths I usually turn back and try to find an alternative. However, there were cows today, but there was a comforting fence between them and the footpath. I found a geocache by their gate, so I was greeted by this reception committee who blundered over to say hello, but they thankfully stayed at a respectful distance. A good shot for Treasure Hunt Theme #39 – Hello.

Day #3175Title: Good Health
Location: Letchworth, Hertfordshire
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX7 / Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 Lumix G II ASPH
Notes: What a long day I had today! But it was all my own fault… I headed to Letchworth to make an attempt on finding at least 100 geocaches in a day. Eventually I managed it (my final count was 101), but I nearly walked myself into the ground! This was how I felt at the end. I spotted it on a wall half way around the circuit.

Day #3135Title: Perched On Top
Location: Ashridge, Hertfordshire
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GH3 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: Today was the start of my geocaching holiday. I headed to the Ashridge Estate in Hertfordshire for the Geolympix 2016 Mega event. There were loads of excellent caches to look for, and I was aided by my blue plastic pal Little Quacker, who is a geocahing trackable aiming to travel as far as possible in a month. He decided to pose for me on top of these fine fungi we found on a log near a cache. Perfect for Treasure Hunt Theme #54 – Perched.

Location: Northaw, Hertfordshire
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GH3 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: Another trip to the Hertfordshire Way today provided this dramatic view of the clouds above the tree line.

Day #3083Title: This Way And That Way
Location: Letchmore, Hertfordshire
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GH3 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I was out this evening around Letchmore after work, finding more geocaches of course. The crops in this field made a fantastic abstract pattern. A great shot for Treasure Hunt Theme #60 – Simplicity.

Day #3047Title: Memories Of Summers Past
Location: Shenley, Hertfordshire
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GH3 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: A walk in the park this morning made me think of long, lazy, carefree days on the swings as a child. It’s not quite summer yet, but it was in my memory.

Day #3046Title: The Shenley Cage
Location: Shenley, Hertfordshire
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GH3 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: Shenley is a picturesque village about 2 miles north of where I have been working in Borehamwood. It has an old 18th Century lockup, The Shenley Cage, which was used to temporarily incarcerate miscreants before being taken to court in either Barnet or St. Albans. It is a Grade II listed building and has been restored to look rather splendid, reflected in the little village pond it stands next to.
