Day #3626

Day #3626Title: At The Edge Of The Woods
Location: Galleywood Common, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 35-100mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario Power OIS
Notes: I timed it right for a quick walk around Galleywood Common today – it was mostly grey but the sun popped its head around the clouds occasionally. I was close to the edge of the woods, looking towards Margaretting and White’s Bridge when this flash of light illuminated the rusty leaves from behind, bringing them to life.

Day #3585Title: Round The Rugged Rocks
Location: Cullercoats, North Tyneside
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: The shorter days are beginning to draw in now, so we had to make the most of the daylight before the clocks change. Our outing today started at Silver Link Country Park for a few caches, then onto the seaside at Cullercoats. It was a bit windy again here (a theme running through this trip North!) but the golden evening light was very pleasant. I liked this view around the rugged rocks, but we didn’t spot any ragged rascals. We rounded off our day with a slap up Fish & Chip supper in Tynemouth.

Day #3583Title: The View From The Top
Location: Rising Sun Country Park, Newcastle
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: Despite the name of the park, this was actually sunset rather than sunrise! The weather had been iffy again this morning but it perked up this afternoon so Alistair and I headed to the park for a brisk walk. It was very windy at the top of the hill but the views were great. Alistair makes the most of the light for a picture, and I make the most of Alistair and those crepuscular rays.

Day #3581Title: Four Sheep And A Cairn
Location: Cleveland Way, North York Moors
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I was after a couple of caches with specific difficulty and terrain combinations today. We bagged the first with the aid of a collapsible ladder in a tunnel under the A19. The second was up this glorious hill in the North York Moors – rather a slog to get up there, but worth it for the views when we did. It was a bit misty, but we found a lot more than just sheep – even spotting some grouse hiding in the heather. Thankfully the cache itself wasn’t a difficult find – it was just guarded by more sheep.

Day #3574Title: A Race For One!
Location: Herrington Country Park, Co. Durham
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: It was a lovely sunny day today (if a bit windy) so Alistair and I decided to head to Herrington Country Park and the Penshaw Monument to find some caches. He loves running around even when I just walk along at a steady pace – and when we found this lonely skateboard park, he couldn’t resist having a jog along the curved walls. Silly fool!

Day #3557Title: Ghostly Lights
Location: White’s Bridge, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I found myself at a familiar spot this evening, White’s Bridge. I’ve taken a few shots here for the daily photos over the years. I waited for a car or two to come into the scene to give it a bit of life.

Day #3547Title: Storm Front
Location: High Ongar, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I was out on a walk today, and of course the showers caught me. Luckily this wasn’t as bad as it looked, I didn’t end up a complete drowned rat.
