Day #3648

Day #3648Title: Handsome Metal Fella
Location: Wivenhoe, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: This chap was a present I gave my Dad last Christmas (he has a bit of a chicken fixation). He still proudly sits on the hearth, looking splendid (the chicken, not my Dad). The lurgy is improving slightly, but I still don’t feel too good.

Day #3642Title: Pack Them In
Location: At home
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: On Monday I visited the LEGO store in Leicester Square while I was on the way to meet my friends. There’s a Pick-A-Brick wall there where you fill up a plastic cup with as many bricks as you can cram in, all for a fixed price – and they usually end up much cheaper than if you bought the specific bricks individually. Trouble is, there is a limited selection at each Pick A Brick wall, so you have to make the most of what they have. There are also numerous videos on YouTube about how to most economically pack the cups. The amateurs just scoop things up at random, but if you make stacks of bigger bricks and then pack the gaps with smaller stuff, you can cram an amazing amount in one pot – all perfectly legally! Anyway, this was my haul for the day – I’m pretty pleased with the result.

Day #3610Title: White On White Plus Orange
Location: At home
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: You know how I was saying that I like things to be organised? Well this is how I store my LEGO Architecture Studio set – with all the bits mated up with their identical siblings, then carefully stacked in a box when I’m not using it. I liked the ordered shapes and patterns in this layout, and the rogue orange brick separator, daring to be different.

Day #3599Title: Welcome To NE:ON Mall
Location: At home
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I have recently discovered the Micropolis standard for building modular Microscale cities in LEGO, which will all clip together. Having had a look around for inspirational pictures, I have decided that this is what I will concentrate on with my MOCs from now on. Today I made my very first module, from stuff which had just arrived from eBay. It’s a bit lairy in colour scheme, but I quite like it anyway! Clearly the bloke who owns the Mall is a very brash individual.

Day #3588Title: The Busy Bee
Location: Manchester City Centre
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: Today I went to Manchester with friend Tim, who kindly gave me a lift to an conference event we were both attending. We arrived very early as he had some setup to do (he was part of the organising team) so I took a wander around the City Centre until it was time for registration. Clearly the Mancunian folks feel strongly about Brexit – I found this European Flag on a wall, along with the city’s Work Bee symbol placed firmly in the middle. It made a great subject for Treasure Hunt Theme #62 – Stars (a much better replacement for the lacklustre attempt from Day #3562).

Day #3532Title: Pipework Gubbins
Location: Rawreth, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: Alistair and I had a great walk around some footpaths in Rawreth today. We found this valve arrangement just to the side of a railway bridge. No idea what it did, but I liked the contrast in textures here. Mono worked well.

Location: Belfairs Park, Essex
Camera: Apple iPhone 5s / Rear Lens, 29mm f/2.2 equivalent
Notes: I didn’t make many images today, and the best one was this, taken with my phone… Oh well, it will have to do.
