Day #3616

Day #3616Title: Petite Patisserie
Location: At home
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 45mm f2.8 Leica DG Macro-Elmarit ASPH
Notes: A new little Microscale building kit arrived today. It’s a patisserie with some apartments above. Outside looks like a lovely place to sit and enjoy some tasty pastries!

Day #3597Title: St. Bridget’s Cathedral
Location: At home
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: Today I thought I would try my had at a LEGO MOC – My Own Creation. Although I’ve build commercial sets aplenty, it’s the first time that I’ve had a go at building my own idea from scratch in over 30 years! I wanted to use the bits I had to build something in Microscale (one storey of a building is about 1 brick + 1 plate high). I ended up with this modern monstrosity, which I have nicknamed St. Bridget’s Cathedral. She’s apparently the Patron Saint of Failure! I wasn’t too happy with the build, as it doesn’t really convey what I was hoping, but it’s the best I could do with the bits I had at the time. I guess I will have to go shopping at BrickLink to see what else I can get which is more suited to this scale.

Day #3573Title: Deconstructed
Location: Newcastle-upon-Tyne
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I’m staying with Alistair for a couple of weeks in Newcastle and today we visited the new Maker Space 3.0 premises which the project has recently moved to – from this place just around the corner! It’s being demolished for redevelopment, and this was the view from an upper window of the newer place, looking at the destruction. It made a good shot for Treasure Hunt Theme #57 – Ruin.

Day #3545Title: Dusk At ARU
Location: ARU, Chelmsford
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: This evening I attended a WordPress meetup at Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford. The building is quite striking with its iridescent colour-changing stripes – last photographed on Day #528!

Day #3460Title: Inner Workings
Location: At home
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 45mm f2.8 Leica DG Macro-Elmarit ASPH
Notes: I do love Lego® and I’m a space geek. It’s no surprise that when I saw the new Lego® Ideas NASA Saturn V rocket, I knew I would succumb. I’ve spent a happy day putting it together and avoiding doing the household chores! This was one of the inner sections which gives it great strength – although from the outside, you would never know it was there.

Day #3321Title: Flint Cottage
Location: Hylands Park, Chelmsford
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: Another dull day, looks like February is going to be rather wet and grim! I had to drop off some more books at the second hand bookshop in Hylands Park stables today, and took a quick walk around the grounds afterwards. The old Woodcutter’s Cottage has featured in a Mono MayHem image from 2012 and a I chose a close up of one of the windows on Day #2487 in 2014. Today it looked rather forlorn thanks to the grey sky. Mono seemed to work best.
