Day #3628

Day #3628Title: Glass Impression
Location: At home, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Lensbaby Composer Pro / Double Glass Optic 50 mm f/2
Notes: Another day with grey uninspiring weather, so I turned to my bespoke stained glass window for a bit of inspiration today. I designed it and had it made years ago – in the style of Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s rose design. I decided to pick out one of the details of a leaf today, as it was casting interesting shapes on the white backing behind.

Day #3626Title: At The Edge Of The Woods
Location: Galleywood Common, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 35-100mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario Power OIS
Notes: I timed it right for a quick walk around Galleywood Common today – it was mostly grey but the sun popped its head around the clouds occasionally. I was close to the edge of the woods, looking towards Margaretting and White’s Bridge when this flash of light illuminated the rusty leaves from behind, bringing them to life.

Day #3625Title: Through The Long Grass
Location: Wivenhoe, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 45mm f2.8 Leica DG Macro-Elmarit ASPH
Notes: There wasn’t a lot of sun to be had today, but I did find a little splash of colour in my parents’ garden when I went to visit for lunch. The grasses in a pot on the patio were an interesting foil for the pinky-red leaves behind.

Day #3623Title: Jewels Under Foot
Location: Chelmer Village, Chelmsford
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 45mm f2.8 Leica DG Macro-Elmarit ASPH
Notes: I will admit that, with the odd exception, November was a pretty lacklustre month for my photography. I had had a very active October and kind of ran out of steam, didn’t go out that much and lost motivation to do anything creative, apart from building LEGO. But last night, I went to a very inspirational talk by a wonderful photographer,  Vanda Ralevska, who we had the pleasure of having in our 365 group last year. It was just the kick up the butt that I needed – and I have resolved to make more of an effort during December. I was pleased that, once I was out and about today (just having a quick walk in the park next to a local Asda supermarket!), I spotted several photographic opportunities just waiting to be grasped. Of course, the beautiful low Winter light brought everything alive, which helped no end. I saw these little jewels resting on an oak leaf, just in time not to tread on them. Perfect for Treasure Hunt Theme #43 – Morning Dew.

Day #3591Title: Slate & Bracken
Location: Fulneck, Pudsey, West Yorkshire
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I’ve been away for almost three weeks in Newcastle and Leeds, but today it was time for me to head home at last. Of course, while I was in the area, I made the most of the daylight to find some geocaches I particularly wanted to seek out, and then did most of the drive in the dark. I don’t mind particularly, especially as my new car has much better lights than the old one, which were a bit dim at times. One of my first stops today was in Fulneck, a little suburb of Pudsey, where I found this delightful yellowed bracken framed rather nicely against the contrasting grey slate.

Day #3586Title: Pine Decay
Location: East Cramlington, North Tyneside
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I had a bit of a soggy walk today around some footpaths on open access land near East Cramlington. The rain held off but it was very boggy underfoot in places! I did manage to spot this detail which was perfect for Treasure Hunt Theme #47 – Pine Cones.

Day #3576Title: Colourful Leafy Carpet
Location: Corbridge, Northumberland
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Lensbaby Trio 28mm f/3.5 (Sweet/Velvet/Twist)
Notes: It was a lovely sunny day today, which was fortunate as Alistair and I had planned to meet up with a photographer friend and visit Corbridge for the afternoon. We had a great lunch and relaxing walk along the banks of the Tyne – which is quite a small river at this point. There was a profusion of Autumn leaves kicking about too, I liked this collection with a bit of a blur vignette provided by the Lensbaby Trio.
