Day #3926Title: QR Square
Location: At home
Camera: Apple iPhone 5s / Rear Lens, 29mm f/2.2 equivalent
Notes: This next week I’m travelling up to Newcastle to display a full selection of my Micropolis builds at a new LEGO show in the Discovery Museum. Rather than handing out wasteful business cards with my website details on, I built this Micropolis block called QR Square, which is a real, scan-able QR code! It should take you to a page on my website showing you where to find all my LEGO content around the web. To the punters of Micropolis, it just looks like a rather modern park with different coloured paving slabs, a few ponds and some carefully placed hedges. Seen directly from above, it’s a different story! Perfect for 52 Weeks 2018 – Topic 9, Something That Begins With Q.

Day #3925Title: Three Lurkers
Location: Grain Battery Tower, Kent
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: A few weeks ago, geocaching buddy Ian and I cooked up a plan to visit the Grain Battery Tower in Kent, to look for a high terrain cache. It can only be accessed for a couple of hours either side of low tide, as you need to walk out to the tower across a muddy causeway. So a bit of pre-planning was required, and we decided today was a good day for our assault. Ian brought his son Ryan along too, who also enjoys a bit of extreme caching from time to time. Here we are, safely in the tower, but yet to find the cache. It was a great day out, with a few more boxes found as well as this one – and I managed to remain upright for both outward and return journeys across the slippery mud, so I was happy! Good fun and good company.

Day #3924Title: Monthly MOC – September
Location: At home
Camera: Apple iPhone 5s / Rear Lens, 29mm f/2.2 equivalent
Notes: Here’s a minifig’s eye view of part of Blockville, my ongoing LEGO City project. It’s larger scale than my Micropolis builds, but I still enjoy putting everything together and adding finishing touches. This view is not normally easy to take because something else is usually in the way, but I had to move the other building while doing some work. This is my image for Treasure Hunt Theme #9 – September Monthly Project.

Day #3923Title: Reach For The Blue
Location: Fenchurch Street, London
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I was in London today for an evening event in Fenchurch Street, so I took the opportunity for a little walk around beforehand. I haven’t been this way in a while, so it was interesting to see what all the new architecture looks like. The sun was catching this glass clad office rather nicely.

Day #3922Title: Sigfig Swap
Location: At home
Camera: Apple iPhone 5s / Rear Lens, 29mm f/2.2 equivalent
Notes: One of my favourite LEGO Youtube channels is called the Brick Bakery, and is run by a very enthusiastic Danish guy called Jakob. And one of the things Youtubers like to do is to swap their LEGO Sigfigs (signature figures) – it’s a fun take on having a penpal, I guess! Anyway, today Little Jakob arrived in the mail, carrying a huge pastry (of course) and accompanied by a couple of friends. Meanwhile, Sigfig Caz has made her way to Denmark in return! Here is my video about Jakob’s arrival, and Brick Bakery’s video about Sigfig Caz’s arrival 🙂

Day #3921Title: High Tea On The Terrace
Location: Merrymeade House, Brentwood
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: A few weeks ago I helped look after a friend after a small operation. Today, as a thank you, she treated us both to a lovely High Tea at Merrymeade Tea Room, which is in the stunning Merrymeade House, now part of the Brentwood Buddhist Community. We were given delicious cakes and sandwiches, and needed a doggy bag to take away the leftovers! The remaining cakes will give us an afternoon treat for a day or two yet.

Day #3920Title: Where Are You Going?
Location: At home
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I sometimes look up at the contrails in the sky and wonder where the planes are going. Of course, there’s a app for that – Flight Radar – but on this occasion, I didn’t fire it up, just speculated about the plane’s destination! It can be quite fun to see just what is flying above you, and where they are heading, and during the summer I’m quite happy to sit in a deck chair in the back garden and wave at the passing planes.

Day #3919Title: On Court
Location: Chelmer Park, Chelmsford
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I took a stroll through Chelmer Park to the shops today. There’s always a picture to be seen, especially if it is sunny. These abstract shapes on the hockey pitches caught my attention.

Day #3918Title: Ups And Downs
Location: At home
Camera: Apple iPhone 5s / Rear Lens, 29mm f/2.2 equivalent
Notes: Blockville’s amusement park, Mount Clutchmore Funland, is coming along quite well. There’s a Pirate Roller Coaster and a little Miniland for the visitors to wander through, as well as a cafe and picnic area.

Day #3917Title: On Top Of The Roof
Location: At home
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 100-300mm f4.0-5.6 Lumix G Vario Power OIS
Notes: Looking north across the rooftops as the sun sinks down to the west. I always think it looks like this tree is growing out of the chimney! Anyway, it makes a good shot for 52 Weeks 2018 – Topic 40, Top.
