Day #3947Title: Bicknacre Bridleway
Location: Bicknacre, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: A lovely Autumnal day again, this was a bridleway in Bicknacre on the way back to the car after my walk.

Day #3925Title: Three Lurkers
Location: Grain Battery Tower, Kent
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: A few weeks ago, geocaching buddy Ian and I cooked up a plan to visit the Grain Battery Tower in Kent, to look for a high terrain cache. It can only be accessed for a couple of hours either side of low tide, as you need to walk out to the tower across a muddy causeway. So a bit of pre-planning was required, and we decided today was a good day for our assault. Ian brought his son Ryan along too, who also enjoys a bit of extreme caching from time to time. Here we are, safely in the tower, but yet to find the cache. It was a great day out, with a few more boxes found as well as this one – and I managed to remain upright for both outward and return journeys across the slippery mud, so I was happy! Good fun and good company.

Day #3898Title: Geocachers Gathering
Location: Foulness Island, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I attended an unusualy geocaching meet up today, on Foulness Island. Foulness is one of those villages which have been taken over by the MOD but are still open occasionally to the public. Today was the last day of opening for 2018. The sun had brought out loads of people, not just our geocaching party, so there were terrific queues not only for the permit to let us onto the island, but also for the refreshments and loos once we got to the Visitors’ Centre. Eventually most of the caching crew arrived and enjoyed tea, cake and a good natter.

Day #3886Title: Wentworth Ruin
Location: Wentworth, South Yorkshire
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: It was a nice day so I spent a bit of time enjoying a few stops for geocaches on my way home from Newcastle. This was at the ruin of a 13th Century church in Wentworth, a small village between Rotherham and Barnsley. The original building fell into disrepair when a new larger church was opened in 1877. You can read more of its history here, if you wish.

Day #3882Title: Water Under Water
Location: Twechar, East Dunbartonshire
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I decided to take the long way round today, travelling from Newcastle to Stirling, picking up geocaches in new Scottish counties as I went. This was an almost-fruitless stop in East Dumbartonshire, where the cache took me ages to find. But the location was lovely – close to where a little tributary of the River Kelvin runs under the Forth & Clyde Canal. It also makes a perfect shot for Treasure Hunt Theme #67 – Tunnel.

Day #3806Title: Playtime In The Woods
Location: Thorndon Country Park, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: Today I met up with geocaching friend Sue who was visiting Essex from her home in Ireland. I took her to Thorndon Country Park to find some caches, and we had an excellent time chatting away as we wandered the footpaths in search of Tupperware (and in some cases, some rather fine Ammo cans – a rare sight in the geocaching world these days). We found this woodland shelter which had been constructed and decided to pose for a picture.

Day #3797Title: Shivering Sands Fort
Location: Thames Estuary, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: One of my geocaching friends arranged another trip out on a boat today so we could grab a new Virtual geocache at Shivering Sands Fort in the Thames Estuary. It was a great day out, a little bit more choppy than last time but thankfully nobody was seasick. Perfect for 52 Themes 2018 – Topic 49, Water.

Day #3789Title: Green & Pleasant
Location: Colchester, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: Alistair is visiting again for a few days and we decided to go for a geocaching walk around south east Colchester before meeting friends in the pub this evening. This was a lush green scene we came across during our potter about. Perfect for 52 Weeks 2018 – Topic #3, Spring (Season).

Day #3750Title: Little White Cottage
Location: Ospringe, Kent
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I had a lovely walk around the footpaths of Ospringe and Faversham in Kent today, following a productive morning picking litter in Teynham at a geocaching event. This little cottage looked idyllic, with is white picket fence and flowers blooming.

Day #3728Title: Grumpy Stumpy
Location: Little Baddow, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I was out this afternoon around Little Baddow looking for a handful of geocaches when I spotted this amusing face on a recently sawn up tree stump. I thought it would make a good shot for Treasure Hunt Theme #34 – Grumpy.
