Day #4000

Day #4000Title: 4K Retrospective
Location: East Hanningfield, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 7-14mm f4 Lumix G Vario
Notes: After an inauspicious start nearly 12 years ago, my daily photo journey has now reached 4000 consecutive days. I’m amazed I have kept going that long. There have been times were I didn’t want to, but I made a picture anyway. So today I spent a little time looking at a slideshow of the last 11 years, 11 months and 13 days!

Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I went to a geocaching event at Wat Tyler Country Park this afternoon. It was blustery but sunny. I made this image while it was poking out of the clouds briefly.

Day #3953Title: Autumn Layers
Location: Ashridge Estate, Hertfordshire
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: Spent a lovely day today roaming around the Ashridge Estate at the Geolympix Geocaching MEGA Event with a couple of friends. The Autumn colours were much in evidence, and this was a lovely little scene which I couldn’t resist. Perfect for this week’s 52 Weeks 2018 – Topic 5, Fall (Season).

Day #3882Title: Water Under Water
Location: Twechar, East Dunbartonshire
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I decided to take the long way round today, travelling from Newcastle to Stirling, picking up geocaches in new Scottish counties as I went. This was an almost-fruitless stop in East Dumbartonshire, where the cache took me ages to find. But the location was lovely – close to where a little tributary of the River Kelvin runs under the Forth & Clyde Canal. It also makes a perfect shot for Treasure Hunt Theme #67 – Tunnel.

Day #3881Title: Windswept Life
Location: Newcastle-upon-Tyne
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I am making a flying visit to Newcastle for a couple of days on my way to/from Stirling for the weekend. A quick walkabout in the city centre near the Centre for Life this morning yielded this image – an off-beat take on 52 Weeks 2018 – Topic 7, A Lone Tree In The Landscape.

Day #3851Title: Lining Up The View
Location: Tynemouth, North Tyneside
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: We went for a windy walk along the harbour wall at Tynemouth today. The clouds were moody above the North Sea and the light was a little overcast, but I still love this view. The rusty rails are actually mounted on top of the wall, but I’m leaning the camera over quite a way to get the angle I wanted, making it look like they are huge. There had been some overnight rain, so the trough between the rails was puddled with water, adding an interesting line of reflection. Perfect for Treasure Hunt Theme #53 – Pier or Jetty.

Day #3836Title: Ferrybridge From Afar
Location: Sutton, North Yorkshire
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: Time to go home today, but first I had a drive around east of Leeds, picking up some specific geocaches which were on my list. This is a view of the iconic Ferrybridge Power Station (more readily seen when driving along the A1 in the area). Looking at the map later, I realise that a chunk of North Yorkshire protrudes between West and East Yorks at this point – so I’m in North Yorkshire looking a mile or so into West Yorkshire. Not that you care. Probably… Anyway, I liked the way the large clump of trees in the foreground dwarfed the huge cooling towers behind, which normally dominate the landscape for miles around.

Day #3789Title: Green & Pleasant
Location: Colchester, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: Alistair is visiting again for a few days and we decided to go for a geocaching walk around south east Colchester before meeting friends in the pub this evening. This was a lush green scene we came across during our potter about. Perfect for 52 Weeks 2018 – Topic #3, Spring (Season).
