Day #3851

Day #3851Title: Lining Up The View
Location: Tynemouth, North Tyneside
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: We went for a windy walk along the harbour wall at Tynemouth today. The clouds were moody above the North Sea and the light was a little overcast, but I still love this view. The rusty rails are actually mounted on top of the wall, but I’m leaning the camera over quite a way to get the angle I wanted, making it look like they are huge. There had been some overnight rain, so the trough between the rails was puddled with water, adding an interesting line of reflection. Perfect for Treasure Hunt Theme #53 – Pier or Jetty.

Day #3836Title: Ferrybridge From Afar
Location: Sutton, North Yorkshire
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: Time to go home today, but first I had a drive around east of Leeds, picking up some specific geocaches which were on my list. This is a view of the iconic Ferrybridge Power Station (more readily seen when driving along the A1 in the area). Looking at the map later, I realise that a chunk of North Yorkshire protrudes between West and East Yorks at this point – so I’m in North Yorkshire looking a mile or so into West Yorkshire. Not that you care. Probably… Anyway, I liked the way the large clump of trees in the foreground dwarfed the huge cooling towers behind, which normally dominate the landscape for miles around.

Day #3789Title: Green & Pleasant
Location: Colchester, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: Alistair is visiting again for a few days and we decided to go for a geocaching walk around south east Colchester before meeting friends in the pub this evening. This was a lush green scene we came across during our potter about. Perfect for 52 Weeks 2018 – Topic #3, Spring (Season).

Day #3787Title: Windmill Panorama
Location: Mountnessing, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I had lunch with a friend today at a lovely country pub. On the way to meet her, I stopped briefly to make this shot of Mountnessing Windmill looking resplendent on the horizon, across the oilseed rape fields.

Day #3721Title: Pebble Paddle
Location: Tynemouth, Tyne & Wear
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I went to Tynemouth with Alistair this afternoon to enjoy a walk along the coast and find some geocaches. It was a lovely sunny day and it made all the difference. The  water here picked up the light, showing how the it form patterns in the sand. Perfect for Treasure Hunt Theme #57 – Sand Patterns.

Day #3695Title: Pod Under Clouds
Location: Colchester, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I had to run an errand in Colchester today, and parked overlooking this bizarre structure. Nor sure what is is, but it looked like a big alien pod had landed. The dramatic clouds suited mono.

Day #3668Title: Common Clouds
Location: Galleywood Common, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I hate these dim winter days, especially when it seems dark you should be getting up. It’s hard to motivate myself to do anything. The rain came this morning too, so I was glad to get some admin jobs done at home. By mid-afternoon the sun was poking out intermittently between the clouds, so I took myself to Galleywood Common to watch the sunset. I now realise it will be exactly 10 years ago tomorrow that I first photographed this spot for my PAD way back on Day #16! It seems like a lifetime ago now…

Day #3667Title: Naked Reflections
Location: Hylands Park, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I was back in Hylands Park today, this time with geocaching friend Anne, to find a selection of new caches which have been put out in the area. It was a great chance for a walk and catch up too, and we rounded off our expedition with delicious tea and cake. The cement lid was ever-present though, so mono seemed to be the way to go with this image of some bare winter trees by the Serpentine Lake. Perfect for Treasure Hunt Theme #27 – Edge.
