Day #3974Title: Trapped
Location: Galleywood, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: I had a quick walk this evening and spotted this oak leaf trapped behind a metal railing. I thought it would make a perfect shot for 52 Weeks – Topic 43, Square.

Location: Chelmsford, Essex
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: After yesterday’s rain, I was glad to get out for a lovely sunny walk this afternoon. Still plenty of crunchy leaves underfoot. I went down low for a different perspective, showing the rays catching the path.

Day #3953Title: Autumn Layers
Location: Ashridge Estate, Hertfordshire
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: Spent a lovely day today roaming around the Ashridge Estate at the Geolympix Geocaching MEGA Event with a couple of friends. The Autumn colours were much in evidence, and this was a lovely little scene which I couldn’t resist. Perfect for this week’s 52 Weeks 2018 – Topic 5, Fall (Season).

Location: Anglia Ruskin University, Chelmsford

Notes: Here’s a different Autumnal shot for you today. There are plenty of attractive leaf specimens around at the moment, so expect a few more! I think I managed just a couple of shots of this before it blew away in the wind.

Day #3915Title: Unlucky 13
Location: At home
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 45mm f2.8 Leica DG Macro-Elmarit ASPH
Notes: The neighbours have a bush which produces these striking red berries every Autumn. They drop onto the tarmac and quietly rot away, or get squished by car tyres, unless the birds get to them first. Here’s a bunch of 13 – with one unlucky specimen already beginning to shrivel.

Location: At home
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: A quick shot from the garden today. The castor oil plant sheds its leaves regularly so there’s usually a brown one lurking under the healthy ones.

Day #3853Title: Green Fingers
Location: Armstrong Park, Jesmond, Newcastle-upon-Tyne
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 12-35mm f/2.8 Lumix G X Vario ASPH Power OIS
Notes: We went for a wander in Armstrong Park today, seeking the shade of the woods around the river gorge. At one point, I spotted this vibrant patch of mare’s tail (Equisetum arvense) waving to me in a patch of sunlight, so this had to be the pic of the day.

Day #3852Title: Bee Meets Bug
Location: Heddon Haughs, Tyne & Wear
Camera: Panasonic Lumix GX8 / Panasonic 45mm f2.8 Leica DG Macro-Elmarit ASPH
Notes: Alistair & I went on a geocaching adventure to Heddon Haughs this afternoon, and back along the riverside walk to Blayney Row. We did well, finding all the caches we looked for. And we also found some busy bees buzzing around on the Rosebay Willowherb (Chamerion angustifolium) which was growing along the side of the path. I’m no expert, but I think this was a honey bee (not sure of the exact species) meeting a Common Red Soldier Beetle (Rhagonycha fulva) nose to nose.
