Gantry Shadows
Title: Gantry Shadows
Location: BBC Elstree
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 8-15mm Fisheye EF f/4 L USM
Notes: When not in use on the set, there are several spot lights which are pointing up to the gantry walkway high above, which swoop down for an animated move. When they are switched on, they cast large shadows on the studio walls.

The Village GreenTitle: The Village Green
Location: Mountnessing, Essex
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 8-15mm Fisheye EF f/4 L USM
Notes: The weather was bouncing between sunshine and heavy showers all day. I managed to nip out this afternoon, after a nice lunch at a friend’s house, during a sunny spell. Mountnessing Windmill is always good for a few pictures, this time with my fisheye lens to give a different take on the village green. I loved the fluffy clouds.

Who Left The Gate Open?
Title: Who Left The Gate Open?
Location: King William IV Pub, Great Notley
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 8-15mm Fisheye EF f/4 L USM
Notes: I spent most of the daylight hours today busy at home and went out for a Photo Club Committee meeting this evening which finished late. Then we went to the pub, which finished later! Realising I would not be home before midnight to make today’s mono picture, I improvised on the way out. This is the gate to the beer garden, hand-held @ 1/2″ and ISO 3200. I love the fisheye’s stability even at stupidly low shutter speeds!

The Visitors Have All Gone
Title: The Visitors Have All Gone
Location: BBC Television Centre
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 8-15mm Fisheye EF f/4 L USM
Notes: This was the scene as I arrived at around 7:30am for my shift this morning. In days gone by, the Horseshoe Car Park would have been full of VIP and guests’ cars but now it lies empty and silent. Today was the last live transmission contribution from TVC for the Local Election programme – so it really was the end of an era. Sad times.

Reception ReflectionTitle: Reception Reflection
Location: BBC Television Centre
Camera: Canon EOS 7D / 8-15mm Fisheye EF f/4 L USM
Notes: I spotted the potential of this location a couple of days ago and thought I would save it for the  first picture for Mono MayHem 2013. I loved the reflections of the ceiling lights in the granite surface of the desk – the postbox hole (for returning security keycards) was an added bonus. The whole scene was given a curvy twist with my 10mm fisheye lens. When I first joined the BBC in 1990, this was Main Reception but once the Stage 6 addition to Television Centre was finished, reception moved to the front of the building below the curved glass newsroom, and this location was renamed Stage Door. However, I will always think of it as Main Reception!
