Ikebukuro, Tokyo

Today saw the first day of my mammouth Japanese trip. I’m starting off with a fortnight’s guided tour in a small group of a dozen. We met at the hotel this evening and our guide Tom took us out for dinner at a local restaurant. They seem like a nice bunch of people, so I’m hoping we get on well over the next two weeks.

This afternoon I was able to explore the neighbourhood around the hotel in the Tokyo suburb of Ikebukuro. It’s vibrant place with plenty to see and photograph. This shot of Ikebukuro Square nearly made it for Day #1707:
