Late Night London

This evening Alistair and I went to London to meet friends for a surprise birthday dinner. On the way there we took a walk through the City and along the Thames to make some images of the lights on the bridges. They each have their own character, here are some of the most interesting ones:

I chose a mono picture of Southwark Bridge for my 15th MoNovember shot and dusk at Leadenhall Market for my Day #2146 image.

August ’12 Review

The London Flickr Meetups group organised a photowalk in Ely during the first weekend in August. I hadn’t been for several years, so it was good to return. I also set myself the challenge of just using my 50mm f/1.4 USM lens for the day. Sometimes, eliminating one picture-making choice makes you think more about the others. This shot nearly made it for Day #1678:

August saw most of the country in the grip of Olympic Fever – myself included. I was lucky enough to get a last-minute ticket and had a great day out in the Olympic Park. Here’s one image I made during my day:

The evenings were once again warm and fragrant, and I ventured out and about in London after work on several occasions:

This amazing cloud image would have made it for Day #1695, had I not had to choose one of my Face Down Tuesday shots for the month. I couldn’t quite believe the light:
