Spain Day 7 – Órgiva Market & Casita Florita

Posted by Caz on Thursday, 27th March 2014

We had a free day today to do as we pleased. Originally I had planned to take a drive to the coast, but although I was feeling much better than a couple of days ago, I still didn’t feel up to travelling too far. Along with some of the others from the group, I took a walk into Órgiva to visit the weekly Market in the town square. There are always photo opps to be had when the market is in town!

The afternoon was spent quietly pottering around the villa and its neighbouring Casita garden – the pretty Casita Florita.

This evening we all enjoyed dinner out at a local restaurant, a lovely way to round off the day.

Spain Day 4 – Bedroom, Órgiva & Tijola

We had “homework” before even getting up today! Ken set us the task of finding 10 images in our room before breakfast. With some glancing light coming through the windows, I was able to rise to the challenge:

We spent the morning in Órgiva town, with another assignment – this time based around finding colour. It’s something I’m drawn to regularly anyway, so it was a bit like shooting fish in a barrel. Here are my best 10:

We had a great walk up the track in Tijola this evening – to a viewpoint overlooking the Rio Guadalfeo valley. It was sunny but very windy up there, but we arrived just in time for the glancing sunshine.

Spain Day 2 – Drive To Órgiva & Villa

Posted by Caz on Saturday, 22nd March 2014

I picked up my hire car this morning for the drive to our villa in Órgiva. Instead of going directly via the motorway, I decided to potter through some of the smaller towns, finding a few geocaches along the way. My first stop was in La Maláha where I found a ruined villa near the old Roman baths:

Next I made a detour into the pretty village of Padúl, where the overlook gave me a fantastic view:

On arrival at La Estrellita, I was shown to my lovely room to get settled in:

The late afternoon was a time for a stroll around the garden which has an azure-green swimming pool at its foot. I’m sure we’re going to have a great week here, can’t wait to get started!

My mono image for the day just goes to prove that There’s Always A Lamp. Here are some of the other shots from today:

Embankment Reflections
Title: Embankment Reflections
Location: Embankment, London
Camera: Canon EOS 5D MkIII / 50mm EF f/1.4 USM
Notes: After my interesting day in London with friends on my Creative Photography course, I took a walk along the Embankment on my way back to the Underground at Westminster. I liked the reflection in this bus window, parked along the side of the road. I can imagine the view seen by the tourists who might sit inside.
